Now in our third decade of serving award-winning pies, our guests visit Bakers Square because they know they count on us to satisfy their hunger for life’s simple pleasures.

Bakers Square’s reputation endures because we have the best employees. We hire people who are enthusiastic and have the drive to succeed. We believe in promoting from within and do so as often as possible.

Many of our managers started their careers as crew members in our restaurants. Some of these employees have gone on to work in corporate positions — from the Director of Training and Development and the Manager of Restaurant Computer Systems – both worked in Bakers Square restaurants.

In an industry with a high turnover rate, we have employees in all job positions who have been with Bakers Square for 20 years or more. That’s impressive!

Corporate Support

Our first priority at corporate headquarters in Denver, CO is to support our restaurant managers and crew members so they can accomplish their most important task — making our guests happy!

Training

We provide employees with what they need to succeed, including paid training for both crew members and managers.

Our innovative management training program focuses on teaching new managers how to successfully run our business, including managing pie sales, and goes beyond training the tasks necessary to run a shift. We provide managers with ongoing development so they continue to learn and grow even after their initial training is complete.

Crew training materials are tailored to an employee’s previous experience so they’re working on their own as early as possible. We focus on our pie heritage by training our front-of-the-house employees how to offer and serve pie.

Resources

The support doesn’t end once employees have completed their training. If they have questions about anything – a new pie variety or promotion, holiday pie sales or health insurance issues – we have answers.

The Marketing Department, Training Department, and Benefits Department, to name only a few, are ready to assist Bakers Square employees whenever the need arises.

College Internship Program

Over the past several years, Bakers Square Restaurants has been developing their college internship program, specifically working with U.W. Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin (Baldridge Quality Award Winner 2001).

The college internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain first-hand knowledge about being a restaurant manager with Bakers Square in addition to providing the student with the knowledge and experience necessary to help them in their college career. The typical student intern is a college junior or senior majoring in Hotel/Restaurant/Tourism or General Business Administration.

Internships are eight weeks in length, during which time the student is paid a competitive hourly wage. The work week is 40 hours per week and involves a variety of shifts. The first seven weeks of the internship program follows our management training program. The intern will spend these weeks learning various crew, supervisory and management functions. During the last week, the intern will be running shifts with another member of the management team. Many students have returned to join our management program after completion of their college degree. College internships are currently being offered at our Bakers Square Restaurants in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.
